# Citation style and locale attribution

APA Style 7th edition, MLA Handbook 9th edition, Chicago Manual of Style 18th edition (author-date), Cite Them Right 12th edition (Harvard), IEEE Reference Guide version 11.29.2023, and Elsevier - NLM/Vancouver (citation-sequence) are pinned files from the official Citation Style Language styles repository. Their original author/contributor metadata and rights notices remain inside each file. Source commit, upstream/local checksums, attribution, and license are recorded in manifest.json. APA has one marked EssayClerk adaptation: retrieval wording is included only when an access date was supplied. MLA and the four added styles are unmodified. The adapted APA style retains CC BY-SA 3.0.

The styles are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/. Modified redistributed styles must retain attribution and the applicable share-alike license.

The unmodified en-US locale is copied from the bundled Citation.js plugin-csl 0.9.0 asset, with its original contributor metadata and rights notice preserved. Its upstream locale authors, license, source package, and checksum are recorded in manifest.json.

Citation.js packages are MIT licensed; citeproc offers CPAL-1.0 OR AGPL-3.0. The installed citeproc license offers CPAL-1.0 or AGPL-3.0; selecting and satisfying the distribution license remains a production review item. Preserve dependency license notices when distributing a citation-enabled application. Full production redistribution review remains part of the citation milestone.
