Your cumulative GPA
Enter each semester’s GPA and GPA credits, then calculate.
Weight semesters by GPA credits
A 3.50 semester over 15 credits and a 3.00 semester over 20 credits give (3.50 × 15 + 3.00 × 20) ÷ 35 = 3.21. Averaging the two GPAs equally would give a different result.
Check your transcript
Use non-overlapping semester results on one grade scale. GPA credits can differ from earned or attempted credits. Apply your institution’s exclusions, transfer, and repeated-course policies before entry. Rounded semester GPAs make this an estimate; this does not reconstruct official transcript quality points or replace repeated grades.
The target calculation assumes all entered future credits count toward GPA, with no replacement of past credits. A required average above the scale maximum is unreachable; a value at or below zero means a zero future average already meets the target.
Calculate a semester GPA from individual courses.
Cumulative GPA, semester GPA and future targets
Enter each semester’s GPA and the credits included in that GPA. Use a consistent grading scale. A semester with more credits contributes more to your cumulative result, so a simple average of semester GPAs is appropriate only when their included credit totals are equal.
For example, 3.0 over 12 credits and 3.5 over 18 credits contribute 36 and 63 quality points. The combined result is 99 divided by 30, or 3.30. Adding a higher GPA semester can raise the cumulative average, but its effect depends on how many credits it adds.
For a target calculation, enter the future credits you expect to complete. The required future average applies to those credits collectively; it does not specify grades for individual courses. A target beyond the scale is marked infeasible under the entered assumptions.
Common questions
What is the difference between GPA, SGPA and CGPA?
A semester GPA, sometimes called SGPA, summarizes one term. CGPA is a cumulative average across included semesters or courses. This tool combines each semester’s GPA with its credits on the same grading scale; terminology and inclusion policies vary by institution.
Can I convert CGPA to a percentage?
This tool does not apply a universal percentage conversion. A CGPA-to-percentage formula depends on your institution and grading scale. Use an official rule rather than assuming that multiplying every GPA by the same number gives a valid percentage.
Can I combine semesters from different grading scales?
Do not mix incompatible scales directly. Obtain an official conversion or equivalent values first; this calculator does not evaluate transfer-credit equivalence.
What about repeated or transferred courses?
Use the credits and semester figures that your institution includes in its cumulative calculation. The tool does not remove repeats or decide which transferred credits qualify.
Why does my transcript differ slightly?
Displayed semester GPAs may already be rounded. Calculating from rounded values can differ from a transcript calculated using original course-level quality points.
